Ugh.
I’m so sick of having acne!
I’m 21 and I’ve had acne since I was like 13.
Does anyone know what causes adult acne and what is the best way to get rid of it?
I just went on Yaz which has helped before but I can’t really get rid of it completely.
Adult Acne Archives
I am a 16 years old female and have never had acne, maybe a few bumps here and there (especially during my period); but I have never actually had a breakout. I have very nice skin and and wonders if I’ll get adult acne when I get older because I’ve heard grownup’s who had beautiful skin in their teens and now it’s the total opposite. So do you think this will happen to me or it all depends on the person and I’ll probably be just fine?!
I’m 29 & have been battling skin problems since around 22 or so. I would classify my skin as "oily" but also very sensitive…most "acne" treatments really irritate my skin. I’ve gone to a dermatologist, but talk about harsh! I’ve had better luck w/ over the counter stuff. Has anyone else managed adult acne w/ something that they love? Proactive is too harsh for me (even the sensitive version.) I’m been using Murad’s sensitive skin regimen, & although it does a good job of not irritating my skin, I can’t say that it’s doing much to actually clear it up either…thanks!
I’m almost 22 years old. During my teen years and puberty I never had acne- with the exception of the occasional but rare pimple on my face, I consider myself lucky for not having to go through the acne phase most of my life.
As I’m getting older I’m noticing more and more acne starting to develope on my face. I don’t have an oily face or T-zone acne, it mainly developes on my chin area- and at the edges of my eyebrows. It’s not the acne thats full of puss and nasty- it’s 99% little annoying red bumps that usually turn out to be a black head in the long run.
My mother struggled with adult acne, so could this be happening to me? And what products would you recomend? I have semi-sensitive skin so Noxema or Neutrogena just breaks me out more- which is also a problem!
Any advice?
I have been suffering from adult acne for a long time. I feel it affects every area of my life. I am miserable in my job and hesitant to look for another for fear the way I look will turn employers off. Just how much are people judged by the way they look? In all other ways I am attractive.
For the past several months I’ve been getting really bad breakouts, like all over my face, neck and chest, Its gross. I dont know whats causing it, I havent had any hormonal changes..I’ve been on the same birth control(mirena) for almost 4 years and I’m not pregnant. I wash my face every morning and night, and I use only oil free lotion. I’ve tried using anti-acne products…salicylic acid makes it worse, benzoyle peroxide burns my skin…and my doctor prescribed somehting but it just makes my skin dry & itchy! (and it doent do anyhting for the acne) I dont get a period anymore bc of the mirena, but it seems to happen once a month. Anyone have any other ideas that I can try?
to the person who thinks i am going thru puberty…reread the question. i said adult acne. im 26.
I recently got on the Mirena IUD and have breakouts constantly on my chest (and my face). I’m 25, so the typical teenage products won’t work b/c they will dry out my skin. Any advice for how to get rid of adult acne?
I am so tired and fed up with acne. I feel like I have tried EVERYTHING!! Should I go about treating it medically and see a dermatologist??
I never had acne until I was 19 or 20. It occurs just around the jawline and on my forehead. These two characteristics are true mostly of a specific kind of acne called "adult acne" which seems to be harder to control. I don’t care that I have some marks on my face but I am in pain when I get cystic knots around my jaw. Has anything worked for anyone out there? I am using Proactiv now and it helps with appearance but not so much with the pain.
I have also been on birth control and that did clear it up but it always caused too many other side affects for me to continue using no matter what kind it was.
